COURSE AND CURRICULUM

Because of the special staffing and resources, Fremont-Elizabeth City High School Special Interest Music Centre is able to offer unique opportunities for music study at secondary level, while maintaining other studies. 
 

 STAFF

The 5 classroom music staff of the Special Interest Music Centre at Fremont-Elizabeth City High School are selected by a process involving special advertising and interview. The Head of the Special Interest Music Centre is also a Deputy Principal in the School and there is a Music Coordinator. Each of the music staff are highly capable generalist music teachers with strong musical skills, as well as having certain specialist areas ranging from musicology, jazz, instrumental accompanying, choral direction and orchestral conducting to composition and music technology. 

A number of instrumental teachers service the school while supporting the music program in an extensive range of instrumental tuition. 

There are high expectations of the staff in the area of extra curricular activity both in the school and the wider community, and hardly a week goes by when at least one ensemble from the Music Centre is not involved in a public performance.
